Airbag Not Working, VinFast Recall VF 8 In US

VinFast, an automotive company from Vietnam, was plagued by unpleasant news involving the VF 8 model. It is known that this crossover was affected by a recall in the United States (US).

According to a Carscoops report, Monday, June 3, this recall involved 284 VF 8 units caused by airbags that were not working. Of these, 52 of them are already in the hands of customers.

The car involved is the output of production from 2022 to 2024 that has the potential to be accidentally equipped with an inert airbag inflator. The manufacturer first realized this problem on April 19, when a customer in Vietnam took their crossover to the dealer because the airbag warning light was on.

Dealers investigated the matter and found an airbag on the front passenger side equipped with an inert window that should only be mounted on pre-production vehicles. The airbag works to ensure the safety of engineers to final stage development testing.

The automaker has also issued a global order to stop shipments and stop sales for affected vehicles.

Luckily, there were no accidents or injuries involving the car with the airbag. The manufacturer will solve this problem by making repairs to the dealer network by installing the latest airbag with an active ignition key.

Customers will be notified soon, but vehicles equipped with inert exhausts will turn on air bag warning lights to alert consumers.
