Regarding Recall Omoda 5, Malaysia's Chery Has Checked 92 Percent Of Vehicles

Chery Malaysia has completed 92 percent of vehicle checks affected by recall due to problems with the rear wheels of the US.

Citing the Paultan page, Wednesday, May 29, Chery through uploads on social media stated that user safety is their top priority.

"At Chery Malaysia, ensuring your safety is our main concern. On May 24, we have completed 92 percent of vehicle checks for affected customers and have scheduled a meeting at our official service center," the company said in the social media post.

Some time ago, Chery announced that it had succeeded in contacting 600 customers affected by the withdrawal, with the level of completion of the inspection reaching 65 percent. Previously, the Chinese company had contacted 60 customers regarding this issue.

Chery has also identified 60 units of Omoda 5 in Malaysia which were produced on August 15, 2023 as affected units. The company decided to make a recall on spare parts made between August 14 and 15.

The root of the problem has been identified, namely the presence of an equipment calibration error in the vendor. Chery explained that after a comprehensive investigation, the vendor reported that the problem was caused by an outdated replacement of the end of the automatic welding machine with a new tip of the welding.

"The replacement of the new tip of the welding resulted in a calibration error in the equipment," said Malaysia's VP of Chery Auto, Lee Wen Hsiang, earlier this month.

Chery also withdrew Omoda 5 in Indonesia. In an official statement received on Tuesday, May 14, Chery stated that he has a strong commitment to providing the best service and ensuring driving safety for Chery product owners in Indonesia.

Based on the results of the investigation, this incident is very rare. However, for safety reasons, Chery managed to identify 420 units of OMODA 5 1.5T (Z and RZ) which have the potential to be affected in Indonesia.
