Expand MG Market Will Present Compact Electricity MPV, Take Base From Wuling Cloud EV?

JAKARTA - Since being owned by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) since 2007, MG Motor has evolved as one of the automotive manufacturers who dared to make breakthroughs in the international automotive market.

One of the markets currently being explored is India. MG has presented a variety of electric vehicle models in this market, such as ZS EV and Comet EV. However, this does not stop this British manufacturer from expanding its environmentally friendly vehicles.

Reporting from Autocar India, Tuesday, March 19, this automotive manufacturer intends to add a lineup of its products based on the E260 EV Platform, including a five-door SUV and a compact MPV.

It is reported that the MPV will be based on Cloud EV, one of the brand-owned electric vehicles that are both under the SAIC flag, Wuling. This car has a length of about 4,300 mm and wheelbase reaches 2,700 mm.

This car will be present not only to serve the family, but also to the operational fleet segment. This market is dominated by a number of vehicles in India, one of which is BYD E6.

MG wants the MPV and SUV to bridge its portfolio gap and expand its customer base at a price of about 1.5 million rupees (equivalent to Rp284 million).

Talking about Cloud EV, this car has an elegant design both on the exterior and interior. The inside offers a spacious space with the use of classy materials for the entire cabin.

Wuling claims the model has a distance of 460 km to 505 km, making it an attractive option to use on long trips.

This car was also introduced at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024 in February. Although the price has not been announced yet, customers can book a fee of IDR 10 million for one unit.
