Stellantis, a multinational automotive company, has announced a recall program involving 338,288 Jeep Grand Cherokee units in the US.

This recall includes Grand Cherokee L 2021-2023 and Grand Cherokee 2022-2023 which are produced from December 3, 2020 to May 30, 2023.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the withdrawal was triggered by the results of an investigation on June 26, 2023, which found potential defects in the UPper Control Arm (UCA) bolts installed during the assembly process.

Reporting from CarBuzz, Monday, March 4, if the bolts are damaged, there is a risk of losing the clamp between the UCA joint ball and the knuckle. This can cause UCA to escape from the knuckle and cause the wheels to be thrown.

This situation can create an accident risk for vehicle users. As a warning, owners are expected to be aware of unusual noise when crossing mounds.

The manufacturer has recorded one customer assistance report, 18 guarantee claims, and one field report related to this matter as of January 24 without any recorded accident or injury reports.

To deal with this problem, Jeep dealers will replace the troubled UCA bolts in affected vehicles. Owners who have replaced spare parts before a recall at personal expense are expected to provide proof of payment or original receipt to get reimbursement.

The company will notify dealers and owners no later than April 12, 2024. In addition, vehicle owners can contact dealers to get more information and resolve this issue. This recall is done voluntarily and free of charge.
