IMI Center Releases Product Registration Rules At Motorcycle Racing

JAKARTA - The Central Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI) issued a regulation regarding product registration used in motorcycle sports events. This is stated in the Decree of the Central IMI Number 011/IMI/SK-ORGAN/A/I/2024.

The Central IMI Decree is about the Registration of Types and Types of Products / Supplies of Motorized Vehicles in the Indonesian Motorcycle Association.

This regulation aims to synergize alignment between producers and regulators from the Central IMI to build the Indonesian motorcycle racing industry.

"We already have a motorcycle racing development program that must be carried out continuously," said Central IMI Deputy for Motorcycle Sports Eddy Saputra quoting Antara.

"In its implementation, everything has an interest, including the sponsor, especially the producer of spare parts, which contributes directly to the achievements of racers," he added.

Since December 2023, the regulation on the registration of this product has begun to be socialized to producers or owners of spare parts including driving equipment. All products related to motorcycle racing must be registered with IMI under the auspices of the Deputy for Motorcycle Sports.

This program has actually been initiated by IMI since 2019 but was hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic until finally starting in 2023 it was re-implemented in order to improve the quality of Indonesian racers so that they could compete at the international level.

"That's why we issued this registration rule to jointly support the survival of the racing world so that it can continue. Racing can be held according to schedule, racers score achievements, while producers can also carry out activities to promote their products," said Eddy.

By registering, the Central IMI will include a list of products in the 2024 National Motor Vehicle Sports Regulation (PNOKB) book which will be distributed throughout the Provincial IMI and on the IMI official website.

The cost charged for the registration of this product is IDR 5 million with a period of one year. This product registration provision applies to National Motorcycle Racing Championships such as Motoprix, OnePrix, and Mandalika Racing Series.

This will be the basis for protecting against the use of products in motorcycle racing activities during one competition season.

So it's not just paying for registration, but if there are racers or teams who don't use registered products, the sanction is disqualification. In every championship, there will be a judge from the Central IMI who will oversee this process and if a violation is found, please report it.

On the other hand, Chairman of the Central IMI Supervisory Agency Jeffry JP said motorcycle racing would be an example of applying product registration because it had grown into an industry.

"The next stage that we will design is to help encourage domestic products to have high capacity and competitiveness so that they can be used in international events with FIM homologation," said Jeffry.

"We are exploring cooperation with Puspitek for product testing to get certification," he added.

The registration period for this product will be closed until February 15 and it is certain that there will be no additional when the motorcycle racing competition takes place in 2024.
