Supporting The Serious Growth Of The Electric Vehicle Ecosystem, PLN SPKLU Is Now Increasing By 120 Percent In Jakarta

JAKARTA - PLN Jakarta's Main Distribution Unit (UID) managed to add 43 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in 2023, an increase of 120 percent compared to 2022.

The addition of this SPKLU is needed to support the acceleration of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia and now a total of 79 SPKLUs have been spread over 48 locations in Jakarta and its surroundings.

The total number of supporting infrastructure for electric vehicles in Jakarta during 2023 has increased, consisting of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU), Public Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Stations (SPBKLU), and General Electric Charging Stations (SPLU). The total number of SPKLU, SPBKLU and SPLU increased by 17 percent compared to the previous year, from 2,866 units to 3,347 units. All of them are scattered in the working area of PLN UID Jakarta Raya.

General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Lasiran revealed that accelerating the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem is PLN's commitment to supporting the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in sustainable mobilization to realize Jakarta, Global City.

"We support the DKI Provincial Government to make Jakarta a Global City by preparing a capable electric vehicle charging station," said Lasiran.

The SPKLU is designed to provide easy and fast access for electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicles while in public places, making mobility more affordable and practical.

The wider supply of SPLU is also the main focus, creating an environment that supports the use of clean electrical energy in Jakarta. The number of SPLUs in the Jakarta area currently stands at 3,263 units. This SPLU is placed in a strategic location to ensure that people have easy access to charge electric vehicles and other electronic devices to support positive changes in energy consumption patterns. SPBKLU is also in the spotlight in an effort to create infrastructure that supports electric vehicles, especially two-wheelers. Currently, PLN UID Jakarta Raya has presented 43 cabinets spread across the Jabodetabek area. With the existence of SPBKLU, electric vehicle users can comfortably and safely exchange their electric motor batteries so as to increase user flexibility.

Lasiran also said that many people had switched to electric vehicles. Together with the Central Government, Regional Government, and various other agencies, PLN wants to invite the people of Jakarta to participate in creating a cleaner, healthier, and sustainable city with the use of environmentally friendly vehicles.
