Damped Continuously Manipulation Scandal, Toyota Chair Apologizes

JAKARTA - As previously reported by VOI, Toyota is facing a manipulation scandal and the latest diesel engine involving several vehicles. In response to this, the Chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation, Akio Toyoda, apologized for the incident that caused harm to various parties.

"We apologize profusely for disturbing and worrying customers with a series of scandals," Toyoda said, quoted by Kyodo News, Wednesday, January 31.

According to the man who is the grandson of the company, the data fraud that occurred was a very serious matter and betrayed customers' trust and could shake the foundation in the vehicle certification system.

Some time ago, Toyota Industries Corporation (TOCI), a subsidiary, reported that it had falsified the output of the torque from a diesel engine supplied by Toyota, resulting in the termination of the delivery of affected vehicles.

It is known that TICO changes the volume of the flow to the fuel injector in machine output testing to create engine torques or rotation forces on the engkol axis, so that the resulting power is higher than it really is.

Third-party authorities are currently investigating the incident showing the high demand for products from Toyota may be the cause of the problem.

Some of them may find it difficult to express their opinion freely to Toyota because in many cases, Toyotalah made the order, added Toyoda.

He also revealed that currently his party will prioritize its supervision of all brands under the Toyota group and will immediately reform the company's awareness of compliance by increasing the communication of each brand.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Ministry of Transport examined the TICO factory in Japan to find out about the matter. Based on the results of its report, the local government can determine the severity of the administrative penalties that will be imposed on companies, such as orders to correct operations and revoke certification required for mass production.

There are three types of machines affected, ranging from 1GD used in the Land Cruiser Prado, HiAce, Hino Dyna, Hilux, to Fortuner models which are produced by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN).

Furthermore, 2GD-type engines were also affected, used on the affected Hilux and Innova models, and the affected F33A were used on the Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX500d cars.
