JAKARTA - Electric cars are increasingly popular in Indonesia, but consumers need to understand the difference between the electric car drive system and gasoline or diesel vehicles. This difference affects the use, maintenance, and emergency handling of electric vehicles.

One aspect that needs to be considered is handling when an electric car strikes. If this happens, the first step that must be taken is to remain calm. Ensure all passengers are in a safe state and make efforts to place the vehicle in a safe location. If a crane is needed, make sure the process is carried out properly so as not to cause additional damage that can increase repair costs.

It is also important to pay attention to the type of crane used, especially the flatbed model. The model allows the strike vehicle to be lifted entirely above the flatbed crane, reducing the risk of damage to the driving force if pulled or pushed too far.

Herry Bertus Windyarto, Deputy Head of Customer Service Division of PT Sokoindo Automobile, explained that electric vehicles use driving motors to turn wheels.

"Electric vehicles use driving motors to turn the wheels and these components cannot work if the vehicle is dead. Therefore, use a flatbed crane if the condition of the vehicle strikes, and immediately take the vehicle to the official workshop to get optimal treatment from our trained mechanics and original spare parts guarantees," said Deputy Head of Customer Service Division of PT Sokoindo Automobile, Herry Bertus Windyarto.

For example, the Seres E1 model uses a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor in the rear wheels with automatic transmission. If the Seres E1 breaks down, the first step is to move the transmission to a Netral position. Then, the vehicle can be pushed onto the crane truck and carried over the flatbed. This process has tolerance to push the E1 Seres as far as 10-10 meters. Once above the flatbed, the transmission can be shifted to a parking position and the wheel is locked to keep security while on the crane.
