Sales Drop In October 2023, Toyota: Slow Market Movement Now Focuses On Improvement In November

JAKARTA - From data released by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) in October 2023, there was a decline in sales of a number of manufacturers, including Toyota.

This Japanese manufacturer recorded wholesale sales in October 2023 of 27,436 units. This figure shows a decrease of 18.7 percent compared to the achievement in the same period last year which reached 33,740 units. In addition, total sales for ten months this year reached 273,820 units, a decrease of 1.1 percent compared to the previous year which reached 276,620 units.

Anton Jimmi Suwandi, Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), admitted that the decline in sales of Toyota vehicles occurred due to a decrease in demand.

"It is true that it is experiencing a decline. This is because overall, the market also experienced a decline in October," Anton said when contacted by VOI, Thursday, November 16.

Anton explained that Toyota's decline in sales was caused by various factors, and this became the company's focus to increase sales in November.

There are many factors that affect the automotive market, including self-correction and macro factors. Movement in October was also minimal, resulting in a rather slow market movement," added Anton.

Anton added that the possibility of a decline in sales could also be influenced by overall economic conditions, although a more in-depth analysis is needed to understand this trend.

"It still takes time for more in-depth analysis, including economic conditions," said Anton.

Despite the decline, Toyota still maintains its position as a leader in the list of automotive manufacturers with the most sales. This Japanese manufacturer plays an important role in industrial development with the largest contribution to the market share.
