Audi Starts Building New Electric Motor Platform At Hungarian Factory

JAKARTA - After being delayed for a long time, Audi has finally started the construction of an electric motorcycle platform, the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which was developed with Porsche.

Quoted from the Electrek page, Thursday, November 9, the cooperation between the two premium brands Audi and Porsche has been announced since 2018, with the aim of reducing production costs, accelerating charging time, and offering the latest digitization.

The move also aims to accelerate the launch of new electric models from Audi and Porsche, including the EV Tigers and the Audi Q6 e-tron, which have been delayed for several years.

Gernot D\"ollner, CEO of Audi, said the collaboration was a new milestone in accelerating the production of electric vehicles, especially at their manufacturing site at Gymen's Day, Hungary.

"Gyester is appointed as a very compact and efficient electric motorcycle production facility," he said.

In addition to building an electric propulsion system for the Audi Q8 e-tron, the factory is also preparing production areas for several other models.

Audi's commitment to be involved in the electric car segment is very clear, with the construction of three new factory lines aimed at producing electric motors. About 700 employees work in three shifts to build up to 2,000 e-motors a day that will supply Porsche and Audi.

Gerd Walker, Member of the Audi Council for Production and Logistics, commented on this achievement as an important milestone in increasing production of Audi Q6 e-tron.

"The start of production at GyZeer marks an important milestone in increasing production of Audi Q6 e-tron," he said.

The use of this new electric motor in the Audi Q6 e-tron is expected to start at the end of this year, while the Porsche Tiger EV is expected to start next year.
