JAKARTA - In celebration of the 5th collaboration, Samsung SDI Co and global commercial vehicle manufacturer Volvo Trucks agreed to expand the partnership.

As is known, Samsung SDI began supplying battery cells for trucks and electric buses to Volvo Trucks in 2018 through German battery system manufacturer Akasol AG. Furthermore, in 2019, the two companies signed a strategic business agreement for next-generation electric mobility.

Under the terms of the agreement at the time, Samsung SDI has been directly supplying battery cells and modules to Volvo since last year, and the jointly developed battery pack is now applied to Volvo electric trucks.

Volvo Group CEO Lundstedt stressed that his company's partnership with Samsung SDI, plays an important role in supporting technological developments towards sustainable mobility.

He further stressed that with the battery optimized for the group app, the company is one step closer to achieving net-zero supply chain goals by 2040.
