JAKARTA - Mitsubishi's newest pickup, All-New Triton, successfully overtook obstacles in the Asia Cross Country Rally 2023 (AXCR 2023) event.

The competition which took place on August 13-19 was officially completed with Team Mitsubishi Ralliart successfully completing the rally with positive results.

The three cars from All-New Triton managed to reach the finish line with the best in the 3rd position achieved by the racer from Thailand, Chayapon Yotha.

The director of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, Hiroshi Masuoka, said that his team had made every effort at the 2023 AXCR rally because of a very tiring obstacle. Even though it didn't work with a win, he said that his party was quite satisfied with the overall podium achievement with the newly developed car.

"Unfortunately we didn't win the championship for a second year in a row, but we were able to finish the rally with all three Tritons without losing a single car, using nearly the same specifications as mass production cars and using spare parts from production to convince us that our direction in car production is on the right track," Masuoka said in his statement, Monday, August 21.

With car number 101, Chayapon Yotha managed to represent Team Mitsubishi Ralliart on the podium and successfully optimized the performance of All-New Triton, which is always in the top five at each stage.

As for the 112 car driven by Katsuhiko Taguchi, he successfully won 8th overall position in his debut at AXCR 2023. The Japanese racer took the lead on SS1 on the first day, but he could not get another record of fastest times due to the problems he faced afterward.

Indonesian racer, Rifat Sungkar, who was in car number 106 completed AXCR 2023 by finishing in the 32nd position as a whole, after experiencing various problems such as problems with cooling systems caused by grips blocked by grass on SS1 on the first day, thus having to start the next stage at the back.

Despite facing various obstacles from the back position, Rifat Sungkar had recorded the fastest time at SS5. Although, it was not enough to lead him to finish the rally at the top.

The 2023 AXCR race itself was won by Takuma Aoki from Toyota Gazoo Racing Indonesia in a Toyota Fortuner car number 105.

The success of Toyota Gazoo Racing Indonesia AXCR 2023 is increasingly complete with Indonesian racers, Tubagus Moerinsyahdi completes the rally in the second position as a whole behind the wheel of Toyota Fortuner number 121.

In the 2023 AXCR event, racers are required to move their cars up to 2,000 km, including more than 1,000 km on the special stage.

Different from previous years, the Asia Cross Country Rally 2023 has a variety of terrain, ranging from mountains, heavy rain, muddy roads, and river crossings.
