This Is The Reason Honda Provides N-Van EV Prototype To Pertamina

JAKARTA - PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) recently announced a partnership with Pertamina Patra Niaga and Pertamina New Renewable Energy (NRE) in a joint effort to develop the use of electric cars in urban areas.

The announcement of this collaboration was made at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023. In the context of this partnership, Honda will provide a Honda N-Van EV Prototype unit to support urban mobility and logistics needs.

As a kei car, the Honda N-Van EV Prototype has a compact but reliable dimension in maneuvers. This car is also used in Japan for personal purposes. The choice of N-Van EV Prototype as a research and development basis is not without reason.

Yulian Karfili, Senior Communication Strategy Manager of PT HPM, explained that the selection of N-Van EV Prototype as a research vehicle was based on the popularity of the N-Series model in Japan. "This is a kei car product in Japan that is very popular in the city and has sold more than 3 million units in Japan," Karfili said at a press conference at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Monday, August 14.

Furthermore, this car is a prototype version adapted from the N-Van model of gasoline-fueled. Therefore, this car is ideal as the basis for future technology development and research.

"This car is a prototype, so it has not been mass produced. However, this car was deliberately made for research purposes. This car has characters, extensive cabin space, and adequate technology," added Yulian.

He hopes that collaboration with Pertamina will advance environmentally friendly technology and support the company's global vision for the future. "We hope that the results of this study will gather information about the needs and demand of consumers globally, especially in Indonesia," added Yulian.

Honda and Pertamina will work together to take advantage of data and experience related to electric vehicles. Important aspects such as battery reliability, recharging process, as well as the performance and convenience of using the Honda N-Van EV Prototype in shipping goods will be the focus in this development.

This collaboration is planned to last for 3 months. The Honda N-Van EV Prototype will be used for 6 days a week to deliver logistics from Pertamina Retail's warehouse to 14 Bright Store locations in Jakarta and its surroundings.

The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for the development of other electric vehicles, especially in the context of logistics and distribution.
