About The Subsidy Mechanism For The Purchase Of Electric Vehicles, Moeldoko: It's Not Complicated

Jakarta Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko ensured that the government had evaluated the mechanism for distributing subsidies for the purchase of Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles (KBLBB), especially for two-wheeled or motor types. This evaluation is necessary because the absorption of quotas for the purchase of electric vehicles for two-wheelers is still low.

To note, in 2023, the government has prepared a quota for the provision of assistance for the purchase of electric vehicles for two wheels of 200,000 units. Quoting from the remaining site pira.id, from the total quota, as of June 5, 2023, only 637 have been absorbed, with the status of 4 units being distributed.

The provision of subsidies for the purchase of electric motorbikes is the government's spirit for the development of electric vehicles. So don't give something complicated to the community. And now the government is preparing a simpler and more practical mechanism," said Moeldoko when he was a source at the Merdeka Barat 9 Forum (FMB9) with the theme Employment Transition Towards Clean Energy, Monday (5/6).

Moeldoko revealed that several evaluations were carried out, including those related to the use of the word subsidy on the distribution of purchase assistance for two-wheeled electric vehicles. Because the use of the word is followed by several requirements that must be met by the recipient. Namely, registered as a beneficiary of KUR, productive assistance for Micro Enterprises, wage subsidy assistance, and recipients of electricity subsidies up to 900 VA. It could be that with these requirements people feel complicated and reluctant to take advantage of it," he said.

He added that the government also carried out an evaluation related to the acceleration of subsidy payments, namely in the form of discounted prices of Rp 7 million at dealers. So this subsidy is given to dealers. And this is restitution. So there is an impression that the payment is old. This is what we are evaluating, so that payments can be made within one to two months, "explained Moeldoko.

On that occasion, Moeldoko also touched on the issue of Battery which is still a public issue. The head of Periclindo said that until now there are still many questions in the public regarding security, availability, strength, and management of battery waste.

"The challenge of this public issue must be held as we answer, so that the acceleration of the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem can be carried out," he concluded.
