Asian Games 2026 Preparation Fund Increased to Rp. 222 Billion

JAKARTA - The government has officially increased the budget for the national training center (pelatnas) in preparation for the 2026 Asian Games. The nominal has now increased to reach Rp. 222 billion.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Erick Thohir, said that this additional budget was a form of commitment from the government of President Prabowo Subianto to national sports.

"Now, of course, for the 2026 Asian Games, we ask athletes and sports branches to start preparing for medal targets again," he said in a press statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

Previously, the budget for the national training center for the four-year multi-branch sports festival of Asian countries was only in the amount of Rp. 81 billion.

The government then decided to increase it to Rp127 billion and add another Rp95 billion in nominal value. These figures are outside the departure and return of the Indonesian Contingent, which is in the amount of Rp61 billion.

Erick said that the disbursement of the budget would be processed immediately after the Budget Implementation Fill List (DIPA) was available with the target already being distributed to the sports branch this week or at the latest next week.

"We from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, all the national training concentration budget has used the key performance indicator system, targeted. What is the branch of the sport, what is the number, who is the athlete. So, this is really targeted," said Erick.

The 2026 Asian Games will take place in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Indonesia will send 432 athletes from 35 sports to the big sports party with a target of four gold medals.

The sports branches (cabor) that have great potential to bring home the gold medal from the Sakura State are badminton, weightlifting, and rock climbing. The last cabor even set a target of two gold medals.
