Conor Benn Confident of Knocking Out Ryan Garcia to Win WBC Welterweight Title

Conor Benn is confident of stopping Ryan Garcia when the two meet in the middle of next month in the United States for the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight world title.

The British fighter is scheduled to step into the ring against Garcia in Las Vegas on September 12, 2026. Benn will try to aim for the world champion belt that his father, Nigel Benn, once owned, even though he is stepping into the ring at home.

Benn said that the psychological games with the word wars carried out by Garcia did not bother his ambition to become a world champion.

"All of that is just nonsense. It doesn't really worry me and doesn't bother me. I came just to take the title," Benn said, quoted by Sky Sports.

This is the first time Benn has fought for a world title in his career. He entered the fight after defeating Regis Prograis in an extra round in Tyson Fury's comeback match against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April 2026.

The fight took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a venue that previously hosted Benn's rivalry with Chris Eubank Jr. in two epic fights.

After avenging his first professional defeat against Eubank Jr. through a rematch in November 2025, Benn is now aiming for a feat like his father, who won the WBC belt he had and defended it in 11 fights from 1992 to 1995.

"I prepared myself very hard and always worked my hardest. I have accepted this opportunity with both hands and I came there to make a mess," said Benn.

Garcia is a much higher quality opponent than any of the boxers Benn has faced before. On paper, the 28-year-old has lost twice, but he is known as one of the most dangerous boxers.

Benn said he was very happy to appear with the status of an underdog fighter. He emphasized that he could actually perform more optimally in such situations.

"I think every fight I've had has brought me to this moment. All the pressure I've faced at the start of my career has prepared me for nights like when I fought at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium," he said.

Garcia managed to hold the WBC welterweight world champion belt after winning a figure over Mario Barrios in Las Vegas in February 2026. This is the first world champion belt that Garcia has ever won in his career.
