JAKARTA - Indonesia maintains a positive trend in the 8th Asian Taekwondo Indonesia Open Championships 2026. On the fourth day of the event, the representatives of the Red and White received one more silver and two bronze from the kyorugi event.
The tournament, which took place at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, played the fourth day's match on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Additional silver medals for Indonesia were contributed by Adrian Kaiser in the -87 kg men's class as well as a bronze medal won by Reininda Pirenaingtyas who competed in the -62 kg women's class and Arga Putra who competed in the -68 kg men's class.
Kaiser has not managed to dampen the power of Vladislav Budin (Russia) in the final match which took place in the afternoon series. The 20-year-old athlete had to accept defeat with a score of 0-2 from his opponent.
Kaiser said he was still grateful to have won silver, especially since the G2 World Taekwondo level tournament was also one of the points hunting events for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
"The opponent is much stronger, but being able to appear in the final is a very special moment for me. Of course I want to go further to the Olympics, especially since I'm still young," he said in an official statement received.
Kaiser advanced to the final after defeating Vincent Hoermann (Germany) in the semifinals. He previously defeated his compatriot, Rhaditya Keola Namora, in the first round and Lakshay Vijayran (India) in the quarterfinals.
Successfully adding three medals on the fourth day made Indonesia overall collect five gold medals, four silver medals, and 14 bronze medals.
