Shuttle Open 2026 Becomes Nostalgia of Badminton Legends and Charity Auction

JAKARTA - The implementation of the 2026 Open Shuttle, a collaboration between MAKUKU and AceKid Indonesia powered by myBCA, will bring back the nostalgia of a row of Indonesian badminton legends who have achieved success in bringing the name of the nation to the world stage.

The exhibition event that brings together badminton legends in a thrilling and warm match will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the GBK Basket Hall, Senayan, Jakarta.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (Wamenpora), Taufik Hidayat, welcomed and supported the presence of this exhibition event. He called the Shuttle Open 2026 as a form of appreciation for the national badminton legend.

"The government appreciates this event. So, hopefully tomorrow it can run successfully. Hopefully from here it can be an inspiration for young people, our juniors, to achieve better," said Taufik in a press conference in Jakarta.

Big names such as Ricky Soebagdja, Candra Wijaya, Taufik Hidayat, Hendra Setiawan, Liliyana Natsir, and Tontowi Ahmad are confirmed to appear in this event. In addition, the legend of badminton from China, Lin Dan, is also present as a special guest, which will add excitement to this event.

Vice President of MAKUKU Global & AceKid Indonesia, Patrick Owen, as the organizer of the 2026 Shuttle Open, said that through this event they want to invite Indonesian families to watch Indonesian badminton legends prove that achievements do not stop on the podium.

"Achievements will continue to live in the form of real actions and inspiration for the next generation. For us, the most meaningful victory does not happen on the field, but also through education and solutions that are relevant to the needs of children's growth and development," he said.

The warm welcome was also delivered by Ricky Achmad Soebagdja, a badminton legend who won the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in the men's doubles. He assessed that this event was able to provide a different experience for badminton lovers.

"This event provides an opportunity for fans, including families and children, to enjoy badminton in a fun and memorable atmosphere," he said.

In addition to presenting friendly matches between Indonesian and world badminton legends, the 2026 Shuttle Open also carries a social mission through an auction for charity to support Indonesian badminton athletes.

In this activity, Indonesian badminton legends will auction off various personal collections. All auction proceeds will be channeled to badminton athletes in need.

"This auction event is more than just an exclusive collection of goods because every successful bid will contribute to the future of Indonesian badminton. All auction proceeds will be allocated to support Indonesian badminton athletes in need," said Patrick.

There are four ticket categories that badminton lovers can choose with affordable prices to enjoy the 2026 Shuttle Open, namely Gold A (West Tribune) Rp500,000, Gold B (East Tribune) Rp500,000, Silver A (West Tribune) Rp350,000, and Silver B (East Tribune) Rp350,000.
