Marquez Confused by the Situation of the 2026 MotoGP Title Hunt

JAKARTA - Marc Marquez is confused by the situation of the 2026 MotoGP title hunt after his chances to defend the title began to open, in contrast to the gloomy start of the season and seemed somewhat impossible.

The Spanish racer really returned to the title fight this season after a double victory (Sprint and Race) at the German MotoGP which took place at the Sachsenring at the weekend.

Marquez admitted after the victory that he did not understand the current situation that allowed him to bounce back and keep his chances of winning the eighth MotoGP world championship in his career.

"I don't understand anything. I said it in the last race. We tried to attack in a place I felt comfortable and tried to defend when facing a difficult track," said Marquez as quoted by Crash.

Marquez actually fell 102 points behind the leader of the standings after the Italian MotoGP last month. A difficult start to the season due to a shoulder injury made him miss the main race in France and the entire Barcelona weekend.

However, victories in Hungary, the Czech Republic, and most recently Germany - along with Marco Bezzecchi's string of zero points from the last four Grands Prix - have put Marquez back in the title fight.

Marquez said that to keep his chances, he needed to improve some things, especially the problem on the right arm. So, he wants to make the best use of the break to overcome the problem.

"I need to work very hard on the right arm, especially on the weak points because there are some parts where I just ride the bike, I'm on top of the bike, but I can't control my body. So, that's where I want to work," he said.

Getting the maximum points in Germany makes Marquez now a total of 190 points. He is only 18 points behind Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing Team) who is in the top position of the provisional standings.
