JAKARTA - Indonesia will send as many as 19 boxers to compete in the 2026 Asian Boxing U-19 and U-23 Championship which will take place in Jakara.
The tournament will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Senayan Basketball Hall, Jakarta, on July 3-16, 2026. Hundreds of athletes from 26 countries will participate in the event.
Secretary General of the Indonesian Boxing Association (Perbati), Hengky Silatang, said that this was the first time that the international community had entrusted the federation with hosting a prestigious event.
"It was beyond my expectations, the participants immediately flocked. This is proof that the level of trust in us is quite large," said Hengky in an official statement received.
So far, hundreds of athletes have registered to compete in the event. Indonesia as the host country sent athletes to compete in the second category, consisting of seven U-19 boys, three U-19 girls, four U-23 girls, and five U-23 boys.
Tournament Manager, Muhammad Arisa Putra Pohan, said that Perbati was ready to succeed in the event even though this was the first experience welcoming hundreds of athletes and officials for a major event.
"Our preparations have reached 90 percent and Perbati is very ready to make it a success," he said.
