Alex Marquez Ready for Comeback in 2026 Czech Republic MotoGP

JAKARTA - Gresini Racing rider Alex Marquez has flown to the Czech Republic to get a chance to return to the ninth MotoGP 2026 series which takes place this weekend.

The MotoGP Brno, which was held at the Automotodrom Brno, Czech Republic, will be held on June 19-21, 2026. If Alex is declared fit, he will be on the track marking his comeback since suffering an injury.

Gresini Racing in an official statement confirmed that the rider would go to Brno with the aim of ensuring he was fit and could return to racing.

"After the latest medical examination in Spain, Alex Marquez will fly to the Czech Republic this weekend with the aim of being declared fit so that he is healthy to compete," said Gresini in an official statement.

Alex Marquez, who managed to climb to the highest podium in the Jerez MotoGP, suffered a broken right collarbone and a marginal fracture of the C7 vertebra as a result of a terrible accident in Catalunya last month.

He managed to win the Catalunya Sprint Race, but bad luck befell him in the main race. The Spanish racer and Marc Marquez's younger brother was right behind Pedro Acosta from KTM who suddenly had a technical problem.

Alex couldn't avoid Acosta's RC16 bike which was running slowly in front of him, resulting in a severe collision. The incident made him bounce to the inside of the track with his bike.

The 30-year-old then underwent surgery for his groin injury. During the recovery period, his position was replaced by Ducati test rider Michele Pirro, at Mugello, Italy, and WorldSBK rider Iker Lecuona, at Balaton Park, Hungary.

Absences in Italy and Hungary have made Alex drop to ninth in the standings. He needs to undergo a medical examination on Thursday, June 18, 2026, to ensure he is fit to race.

"What he needs now is that he needs to be declared fit to be able to participate in the Czech MotoGP or be given the green light to take part in the First Free Practice session after further review after the first session," MotoGP wrote on their website.
