JAKARTA - The Indonesian Wushu General Manager (PB WI) is happy that the wushu sport can perform consistently to maintain achievements on the big international stages.

Wushu Indonesia again made a new important achievement in the X/2026 Junior World Championships which took place in Tianjin, China, on March 23-30, 2026. In that event, the Garuda youth squad successfully ranked third in the final standings.

The Secretary General (Sekjen) of the PB WI, Ngatino, said that this achievement was the result of cooperation from all parties, especially the provincial managers who had worked hard to nurture athletes and prepare for regeneration.

"Greetings from the Chairman of the General (PB WI) Mr. Airlangga Hartarto who is currently still in Japan, but always monitors the activities of athletes and who always asks about developments," said Ngantino in Jakarta.

Indonesia closed its journey in China with a collection of 27 medals (nine gold medals, 11 silver medals, and seven bronze medals). The position repeated the achievement in the previous edition in Brunei Darussalam in 2024.

In the final standings of this year's edition, the Indonesian wushu team was behind Hong Kong, which ranked first (13 gold medals, seven silver medals, six bronze medals) and host China in second place (13 gold medals, four silver medals).

Deputy Chairman of the PB WI, Gunawan Tjokro, said that this achievement should be appreciated and is the result of the consistency of coaching carried out by the federation.

"The current results are also the initial capital for all of us to get better results at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games which will take place in October in Dakar, Senegal," he said.

Two Indonesian athletes who managed to become team stars at the 2026 Junior World Championships were Noach Daiki Santoso and Clara Abigail. Both of them contributed two gold medals and one silver medal.

Noach, who appeared in Group A Putra, won two gold medals from the nangun and nandao numbers and silver from the nanquan. Meanwhile, Clara won gold from the nanquan and nanqun numbers and one silver medal from nandao in Group B Putri.

"It's nice to praise God for winning. All of this is because of God, managers, coaches, and parents. I am very grateful because this is my first World Championship level match," said Noach.

The other five gold medals were contributed by Kay Jayden Rondonuwu (daoshu Group C Boys), Jenny Ngaserin (daoshu Group C Girls), Utiqo Romadhona Ummi Auna (nangun Group A Girls), Terfi Meisa (qiangshu Group C Girls), and Vini Nur Azizah (daoshu Group A Boys).
