Indonesia National Team and Indonesia U-23 National Team Agenda with John Herdman

John Herdman has a strong reason for choosing to coach the Indonesian National Team (doc. MLS).

JAKARTA - Former Canadian national team coach John Herdman has officially been appointed by the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) as the coach of the Indonesian senior national team and the Indonesian U-23 national team.

The English coach will immediately face a busy schedule to prepare the Garuda and Garuda Muda teams to undergo the 2026 competition calendar.

The immediate agenda, Herdman is scheduled to make his debut as the architect of the Red and White team when he concocts the Indonesian national team's strategy against the FIFA Series at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta from March 23 to 31.

This match is of course very crucial for Herdman and the Indonesian national team who want to collect points to improve their ranking in the FIFA rankings.

Moreover, the Red and White team really needs points after previously being absent from the FIFA match day in November 2025.

After that, Herdman will also face a series of FIFA match days starting in June, September, October, and November.

Then, on the sidelines of the FIFA match day agenda, Herdman was also faced with the 2026 AFF Cup which is scheduled to take place starting July 25.

Meanwhile, Herdman, who is in charge of the Indonesian U-23 national team, will lead Garuda Muda at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, starting September 19.
