JAKARTA - Indonesian long-distance runner, Robi Syianturi, auctioned the jersey he wore when he won the gold medal at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games to help victims of the natural disaster of flooding that hit Sumatra.
He had announced the auction through his personal Instagram account and closed it on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 19.00 WIB. All auction proceeds will be donated to help victims of natural disasters on Andalas Island.
"I have been intending it from the beginning. At first, when I broke the half marathon record in Morocco, I felt that the moment had passed," said Robi.
Robi won the gold medal in the men's marathon at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, which was the highest achievement in his career.
The gold medal was the first for Robi in his three-time participation in the SEA Games. Previously, he won a bronze medal in the 5,000 meter event at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
He assessed that the success at the SEA Games was the right time to share, especially after knowing the conditions of the affected areas directly through his seniors in the athletics branch who were in the disaster area.
"I see this moment at the SEA Games is right. It just so happens that my senior, Bang Wilman, is at the location and is affected. So, what's wrong with me having a little I can give to our brothers there," he said.
Robi also responded to the SEA Games athletes' bonus of Rp1 billion which was promised by President Prabowo Subianto when he released the Indonesian Contingent to the biennial multi-sport event.
He hopes that the bonus will actually be realized and can be used for his family.
"Regarding the bonus of Rp1 billion, I hope it will really be realized. This will be a gift for my wife who is pregnant and our child who is predicted to be born in March (2026)," said Robi.
