SEA Games 2025: PB Aquatic Aims For Better Results From Cambodia

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Aquatics Executive Board Anindya Bakrie set a target for their contingent at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand in the form of achievements beyond the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games medal.

"Last year we got three golds, from being combined with silver and bronze, there are a total of seven. We want more than that," he said in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, December 6.

The figure who is familiarly called Anin believes that the aquatic athletes will be able to perform optimally in the 2025 SEA Games, especially since they have been promised bonuses from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.

"Earlier, they were asked from the children, they were all excited and they proved their best, especially if there were a few bonuses, many even from the President who were extraordinaryly raised. So really use enthusiasm. We will start competing, competing from December 10," he said.

At the 2023 SEA Games, in addition to seven medals in swimming discipline, the Indonesian aquatic contingent actually managed to collect 11 medals in the form of three gold, three silver, and five bronze medals which were contributed by numbers in the discipline of diving and water polo.

This year's Indonesian aquatic team made history, namely sending a team with the most members in the history of SEA Games participation, namely 68 athletes with details of 22 athletes participating in swimming discipline, 28 water polo athletes, four open water swimming athletes, four diving athletes, and 10 beautiful swimming athletes.

Veteran names such as I Gede Siman Sidartawa and Masniari Wolf are still taking part in strengthening the Indonesian aquatic team at the 2025 SEA Games. In addition, there is also a 14-year-old swimmer Adelia Chantika Aulia who will make her debut at the SEA Games level.
