Coach Benahi Lacks Putri KW Ahead Of Debut At BWF World Tour Finals 2025

Putri Kusuma Wardani had to improve several weaknesses before competing in the BWF World Tour Finals 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The women's singles coach, Imam Tohari, has boosted the shortcomings of Putri Kusuma Wardani in preparation for the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals (WTF) which will take place in the middle of next month in Hangzhou, China.

The BWF World Tour Finals 2025 will be held on 17-21 December 2025 at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium. This is the appearance of Putri KW's debut in the event which only involves the top players.

Imam said that Putri KW's performance in the last few tournaments showed positive progress, but there are still technical aspects that must be addressed before the end of the year.

"From my perspective yesterday there were several things, some notes that must be addressed, especially during important rallies, sometimes there is death by itself which should not die. So, the focus must be sharpened again," he said.

Putri managed to close the trip this annual year by becoming runner-up twice at the Super 500 BWF level event. In a row, she won the title at the Hylo Open and the Australian Open.

While at the Hylo Open, Putri's struggle to secure aground title against Mia Blichfeldt (Denmark), while at the Australian Open her journey ran aground against South Korea's number one, An Se-young.

"In progress, actually the chance to win at level 500 was obtained by Putri at the Hylo Open. However, there were several things there, especially his unfavorable condition, then in Australia he lost to An Se-young," said Imam.

Putri is most likely competing with the top names since the group stage of the BWF World Tour Finals 2025. Among them are An Se-young, Wang Zhi Yi, Akane Yamaguchi, and Han Yue.

Imam emphasized that the tournament must be used as a valuable experience for his foster children, who have not beaten these names so far.

"I just ordered to Putri, eight people automatically meet level one, rank one or two or three. Well, this is an opportunity. When will a moment like this happen? For his capital next year," said Imam.

Other names on the women's singles list that qualify for the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals next month are Pornpawee Chochuwong, Ratchanok Intanon, and Tomoka Miyazaki.

Indonesia has sent a total of five representatives to the BWF World Tour Finals 2025. The only sector that does not have representatives in the tournament is the women's doubles number.

The other four representatives who accompanied Putri to the tournament were Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, Jonatan Christie, and Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu.
