JAKARTA The Indonesian Boxing Executive Board (Perbati) has officially become a member of the World Boxing international boxing organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The confession was conveyed at the World Boxing Congress which was attended by representatives of 47 countries in Rome, Italy, on 22-23 November 2025.
"Perbati has officially become an official member of World Boxing. Perbati's position as the only Indonesian amateur boxing organization has also received recognition from 47 participants who attended the Congress," said Perbati Chairman Ray Zulham Farras Nugraha.
In this inaugural World Boxing congress, former boxer Gennady Golovkin from Kazakhstan was elected President of the World Boxing.
Ray Zulham received Perbati's confession with Sultan Sapta (Vice General Chair), Hengky Silatang (Secretary General) and Muhamad Arisa Putra Pohan (Deputy Secretary General).

They were accompanied by the General Chair of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia) Raja Sapta Oktohari in a meeting with Golovkin.
Ray said during the meeting Golovkin was ready to help Perbati's desire to improve Indonesia's boxing achievements either through programs or holding various international championships.
"Golovkin is ready to facilitate the implementation of the coaching program, doctors, international referees/winners of World Boxing in Indonesia. Likewise with the implementation of international events," he said.
Golovkin, who is a silver medal-winning boxer at the 2004 Athens Olympics, also expressed support for Indonesia, which will hold the U-17 and U-23 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in Jakarta, 3-16 July 2026.
He also promised to build trust in World Boxing for the long term starting with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
"I am committed to strengthening governance, ensuring financial transparency, developing technology to ensure fair judgment, and expanding opportunities for men and women in every region in the world," Golovkin said.
The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will be the first Olympics where boxing will be managed by World Boxing.
Earlier in the 2024 Paris Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) took over the boxing sport because World Boxing had only formed for a year.
