AC Milan To Second Place After Defeating Inter Milan At Derby

JAKARTA - AC Milan managed to move up to second place in the Italian Serie A standings after beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the Derby della Madonnina, Monday, November 24, 2025 in the morning WIB. Winger Christian Pulisic became the determinant of Milan's victory.

The competition is getting tighter and the teams are jegal at the top of the Italian League. Napoli had won the top position which was previously controlled by Inter after defeating Atalanta 3-1.

But Napoli did not linger on the throne of the standings because it had been knocked out by AS Roma. The impressive victory over Cremonese made Roma fly to the top position.

Roma will also play if Inter win over Milan in the Derby in Milano. Moreover, the Nerazzurri are indeed more favored for acting as the host. However, Inter failed to maximize their chances, including Hakan Calhanoglu's penalty which goalkeeper Mike Maignan could hold.

Milan, who actually won full points at the derbi and Massimiliano Allegri's team, immediately moved up to second place. By pocketing point 25, they are still two points adrift with Roma who are firmly at the top.

Meanwhile, Inter were forced to drop the rating. Instead of winning the top position, Inter are now in fourth place with 24 points.

Entering the second half, Milan, who relied on counter-attacks, was able to trouble the Inter defense. Even the Rossoneri attack finally paid off when Pulisic broke the deadlock in the 54th minute. Goals began when Saelemaekers' strike was saved by goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

It's just that the ball then rebounded which Pulisic immediately grabbed without Sommer being able to block it. The score changed 1-0 for Milan which made Inter more aggressive to play offensively.

Inter finally got a chance to equalize the score when they were awarded a penalty in the 74th minute. The referee awarded a penalty after reviewing the VAR and assessed that the Strahinja Pavlovic defender had fouled striker Marcus Thuram.

But Calhanoglu failed to take advantage of a good chance to score. The execution could be read by Maignan and then blocked the penalty.

Maignan's success in thwarting the penalty made Milan excited again to keep up with Inter's game.

But the hosts continued to try to suppress Milan's defense. Despite dominating the game for the past 10 minutes, Cristian Chivu's team was unable to find a way to equalize.
