Australian Open 2025: Big Test Awaits Fajar/Fikri In The Top Eight

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri secure tickets to the last eight of the Australian Open 2025 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri received a big test against the first seeded Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open 2025.

The fifth seed secured a ticket to the last eight by beating Chen Zhi Ray/Lin Yu Chieh of China Taipei with a score of 21-10 and 21-15 at the Quaycentre, Sydney, on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Fajar/Fikri appeared to have the first game, took the first two points and continued to lead throughout the match. The opponent had cut the score to 2-1, but six points in a row after that made Fajar/Fikri not overtaken.

Before the interval of the second game, Fajar/Fikri had a fierce match. They were 7-4 ahead and then equalized by the opponent, but after that Fajar/Fikri's figure could no longer be blocked.

This victory keeps Fajar/Fikri's dream of appearing in the BWF World Tour Finals next month. One of the conditions is to win this Super 500 BWF level tournament.

Although the champions alone are not enough for Fajar/Fikri, the journey to reach the final is important for them to catch the second title after being runners-up in three consecutive tournaments.

From the men's doubles, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin also got tickets for the quarter-finals. Both of them fought rubber games.
