Jamu Persik In Solo, Persija Coach Determined To Extend Victory

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta coach, Mauricio Souza, is determined to extend the team's winning trend in the 13th week of the Super League 2025/2026. On this schedule, Persija will host Persik Kediri at Manahan Stadium, Solo, on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Since winning 3-1 at Persebaya Surabaya headquarters on October 18, 2025, Persija has continued to record perfect results. After that, the Kemayoran Tigers won 1-0 at home to Madura United, won 3-1 at home to PSBS Biak, and won 2-1 at Arema FC.

"We have a clear goal in the match. Of course we want to get three points. This is what we hope can be done in the match later," Mauricio Souza said in a statement quoted on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

The winning streak then brought Persija to the second position in the Super League standings with 23 points. They are currently seven points adrift of leaders Borneo FC.

Despite being the host, Persija will not play this home match in Jakarta. They were forced to flee to Surakarta because grass at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) did not allow them to be the venue for the match, after the music concert there.

Previously, when hosting PSBS Biak at the end of October 2025, Persija also fled to Manahan Stadium.

"Of course we want to play in Jakarta, in our stadium with our audience. However, we understand the situation and we are very happy to come to Solo," said the Brazilian coach.

For the match against Persik, Souza believes all his troops are ready for the match against Persik. However, he could not play Allano Souza who was suspended, as well as Ryo Matsumura and Gustavo Almeida who were still undergoing the recovery process.

On paper, Persik is quite far from Persija in the standings. The White Tigers only occupy the 13th position with 12 points. However, Souza did not want to underestimate his potential opponent.

"Persik every year makes a good team. Technically, Persik is very strong. A team that has a good organization. Surely it forces us to work hard, we have to focus completely," said Souza.

Souza also commented on Rizky Ridho's goal against Arema FC, who was nominated for the 2025 Puskas Award.

"Everyone will choose him (Rizky Ridho) for him to be the best so he can go there. So, the most beautiful goal was Puskas' goal. It was lucky, but he scored a good goal," he said.
