JAKARTA - Mikel Arteta has asked the Premier League to move Arsenal's fixture against Everton so the Gunners don't have to have two games in three days.
The EFL (English Football League) announced on Monday, November 3, 2025, local time that the Carabao Cup quarter-finals between Arsenal and Crystal Palace have been moved to December 23, 2025.
They said that the accumulation of match schedules like this now was completely unavoidable.
The Carabao Cup match was originally scheduled for December 16, 2025, but that would see Crystal Palace play four games in eight days.

Now, both teams are scheduled to play two games in three days, with Crystal Palace and Arsenal scheduled to compete in the league on December 21, 2025.
Arteta has hinted that Arsenal will strive for their match against Everton to be moved, possibly to December 20, 2025.
"Hopefully they will move the Premier League game because playing two days later doesn't make sense."
"So now we have decided on a date (for the Carabao Cup match). I'm sure they will also change the Premier League (match)," said Arsenal Manager.
Furthermore, Arteta revealed that the solid schedule would test the depth of his squad, which was starting to be haunted by injuries.
"I leave it to the club. I think we are very clear what is the best, a more logical day to play, they will give a different date," he said.
"We lost seven players. So I don't know what the squad is like now because we lost a lot of players, a lot of front players."
"If we continue to do that every three days, we want to be respected again. What we have discussed before (about the welfare of players), in our opinion, that is the most important part," said Arteta.
Crystal Palace is supposed to face four games in eight days if the original date continues.
They will host Manchester City in the Premier League on December 14, 2025, then have to take the time to meet the Gunners on December 16, 2025, before facing Finnish KuPS at the UEFA Conference League on December 18, 2025, and finally return to action in the Premier League against Leeds United on December 21, 2025.
However, the match against Leeds United has been confirmed for 23 December 2025 with a kick-off at 20.00 local time.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner said he would be irresponsible if he allowed the match (against Arsenal) to continue on December 16, 2025.
Arsenal striker Leandro Trossard agrees that the opinion of the players does not appear to have been considered in calendar planning.
"I would say so. Obviously, it depends on the people who make calendars at the beginning of the year."
"I think they should have known that things like this could happen. With a lot of players already mentioning that there are a lot of games, I think they should know," Trossard said.
Meanwhile, the EFL said that scheduling conflicts were completely unavoidable as a result of the expansion of European tournaments and insisted that they had shown a willingness to compromise.
"However, continuing to provide concessions without stopping will only damage the reputation of the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) - a tournament that generates vital income for EFL clubs and gives millions of supporters the opportunity to support their teams on their way to Wembley every season," reads an EFL statement.
