JAKARTA - Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said he was worried about Viktor Gyokeeres' muscle injury.

The Gunners are currently working to find out how severe the injury was.

The Swedish striker missed training on Monday, November 3, 2025, after being substituted for injury in his team's 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Arteta confirmed that he would definitely miss the Champions League match against Slavia Prague, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, early morning WIB, but indicated it was still unclear how severe his injury was.

"I was worried because he didn't have a lot of muscle problems. He had to leave the pitch and he felt something."

"It's definitely not a good sign, especially for players who are very, very explosive. So, we're investigating further to understand the condition of the injury. We'll announce it as soon as we know."

"He is clearly not available (to fight Slavia). He hasn't practiced today. We need to do some more tests and scans in the next few days to understand how severe his injury is," Arteta said on Monday, November 3, 2025, evening local time.

Arteta further saw Gyokeres disappointed with his injury so he had to miss an important match. However, the coach stressed that he would continue to be beside the striker.

"He was very disappointed after the game with what he felt, but it's part of football."

"In the end, if you expect a linear result, everything will increase, it won't happen. If he gets injured, he has to deal with it. We will help him."

"As you said, he is in a very good moment, in a very good performance. He is very important to the team, but for tomorrow, we don't have it. So that's how it is," said Arteta.

Gyokeres' absence leaves Arsenal increasingly short on attacking and creative options, with Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Noni Madueke, and Martin Odegaard all out.

Mikel Merino replaces Gyokeres against Burnley and will probably appear against Slavia Prague, where Arsenal will aim for a 10th straight win and an eighth clean-sheet in a row.

Martin Zubimendi has been sanctioned with a ban on competing, which may give Christian Norgaard the opportunity to play as a starter.

"I think he (Norgaard) was in a very good moment before injury. Then, as usual, it took him some time to recover."

"Now he's getting more minutes to play and he's ready for tomorrow," Arteta said describing Norgaard.
