Manchester United Vs Brighton And Hove Albion: Amorious To Ignore Slots, Focus On Winning Again

JAKARTA - Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim did not want to lose focus on aiming for a third victory in the English Premier League when he hosted Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday, October 25, 2025 evening WIB. He also chose to ignore the ridicule of Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

Slot still doesn't accept Liverpool's 2-1 defeat against Liverpool's Man Utd at home at Anfield. Slot said his team had difficulty dealing with opponents who survived with the low blocks and played long balls.

Man Utd himself immediately took the lead when the game had only been running for two minutes through Bryan Mbeumo's goal. Liverpool had equalized the score through Cody Gakpo. However, Harry Maguire's header made Liverpool have to give up and this was the fourth defeat in various competitions.

Only Amoritism was not interested in responding to criticism with ridicule from Slot. According to him Liverpool is the past and currently Man Utd is focused on dealing with Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler's strategy.

'Liverpool is the past. So I don't want to comment on anything. That's also not important," Amorim was quoted as saying by Independent.co.uk.

"The important thing right now is what understands Fabian's design and what to do [to face Brighton]. I have to be able to understand everything. And I'm glad the team was finally able to play in a different style," he said.

Amoram said the victory at Anfield was very meaningful because it was able to boost the morale and confidence of the players. Moreover, Man Utd won for the first time at home to Liverpool since 2016.

The team also managed to back-to-back for the first time or won twice in a row since being handled by Amorim in November 2024.

'Winning is clearly very important. But as I've said before from the start, we really have to play better when we have the ball. So, I don't care what Slot says. I also don't care what people say about our team," said Amoritism again.

"If the 20 cm Gakpo kick is different, of course everything will be different. The narrative will be very different. So I just relax and focus on what we will do," he said.

Amorima juga menyepis bila Man Utd telah mencapai titik balik setelah kemenangan dalam The North West Derby. Menurut dia kemenangan berturut-turut itu sebagai hal yang biasa terjadi di kompetisi. Kini, Man Utd pun fokus pada laga ketiga yang digelar di kandang sendiri.

"Sometimes if you talk too much about turning points, that's a bad thing. Let everything go as it is. We have won twice in a row. But this is definitely not an extraordinary thing. It will arrive sooner or later. So, we focus on the next game," he said.

Man Utd did not mess around after picking up satisfactory results at Anfield because the competition was still long. Moreover, the pressure on the atmosphere has not changed at all. Especially if the Red Devils fail to reach the target. Amorima will return to pressure if the team fails to win at home.

That's what happens when you become a manager on a team like this. If you don't win a lot, people will doubt you. So, we have to stay on track [the right one] and that won't change," said Amorim, who did not hesitate to praise Hurzeler, his rival.

According to him, Hurzeler succeeded in turning Brighton into a respected team. They also continue to play what they believe in even if they are under pressure if they are not successful or meet the target.
