West Java Tops Medal Standings At PON Self-Defense 2025

The 2025 Self-Defense PON has started to compete in the wushu sport (doc. Special).

KUDUS - Jujitsu and wushu sports (sports) began to compete in the 2025 Self-Defense PON on Friday, October 24, 2025. Taking place at the Djarum Arena, Kaliputu, Kudus, Central Java, the West Java Contingent topped the standings on the first day.

In the wushu sport, there are two events contested, namely taolu (dance arts) and men's sanda (matching) and women from a total of 24 classes.

Then, the jujitsu match which was held for two days competed a total of 15 numbers from three categories, namely the show system, fighting system, and newaza.

On the first day, jujitsu sport competed in the show system and fighting system categories, with nine gold medals up for grabs.

In addition, karate has completed a series of first-day matches at the 2025 Self-Defense PON on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

On the opening day, the East Java, Lampung, Central Java (Central Java), Banten, and West Nusa Tenggara contingents won their first gold medals, respectively.

However, host Central Java occupies the top position in the list of karate's sports medals thanks to an additional one bronze medal.

Some of the highlights on the first day of the karate sport came from the men's individual word number when karateka from West Nusa Tenggara, Ahmad Zigi Zaresta Yuda, won a gold medal.

Meanwhile, Marzella Sekar (Banten) performed brilliantly by winning the women's individual word number.

Another match also presented fierce action in the committee number, with Fahrel Apriyansah Amartha (Lampung) coming out as the champion in the men's 60 kg class. Then, Ignatius Joshua Kandou (East Java) successfully won a gold medal in the men's 75 kg class.

Another impressive appearance came from Hera Irnandha (Central Java), who contributed a gold medal for the hosts in the women's +68 kg kumite number.

In the opening ceremony, the Djarum Foundation Sports Service Director Program, Yoppy Rosimin, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the 2025 Holy Self-Defense PON.

He hopes that the event can continue and become a forum for the development of national martial arts athletes in the future.

Yoppy also emphasized Djarum Foundation's commitment to continue to support PB Forki and other martial arts parent sports.

In fact, Djarum Arena is said to be always open to hosting and being used for various championships, both at the district, provincial, national, and international levels.

"We make sure that this GOR will always be alive and crowded with sports activities. Kudus is ready to accept you. The Djarum Foundation is ready to support you," he said.

As of Friday, October 24, 2025, afternoon WIB, the West Java Contingent (Jabar) is still firmly at the top of the 2025 Kudus Self Defense PON medal standings with a total of 66 medals. The notes consist of 27 gold, 11 silver, and 28 bronze.

Of the seven sports that have been competed, taekwondo has become a medal barn for West Java through 14 medals (10 gold and four bronze).

With the remaining three sports, namely jujitsu, karate, and wushu, there is still a great opportunity for West Java to maintain its top position until the closing of this event.
