Impressive In Practice, Mario Aji Tembus Q2 Moto2 Australia

JAKARTA Indonesia's young racer, Mario Suryo Aji, qualified automatically for Q2 or the Second Qualification of the 2025 Australian Grand Prix after finishing sixth in the Practice session.

The rider belonging to the Idemitsu Honda Team Asia team has an impressive performance in the first day of the agenda at the Phillip Island Circuit on Friday, October 17, 2025, morning WIB.

The 21-year-old Madiun born racer completed the Practice session with a time of 1 minute 30.755 seconds after previously being able to finish ninth in the first free practice (FP1).

During the practice session, Mario Aji consistently maintained his position in the top 10. He is one of 14 riders entitled to qualify directly for Q2.

Diogo Moreira, who is the challenger for the title this season, came out as the fastest to top Practice. He finished with a time of one minute 30.307 seconds, +0.448 seconds ahead of Mario.

The time record for the Brazilian star who was just announced to fill the Idemitsu Honda LCR squad to make his 2026 MotoGP debut is also an all-time new lap record.

Moreira is very thin 0.008 seconds ahead of the host, Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP). The third position is occupied by rookie David Alonso (CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar Team).

Following in fourth place are Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) and leaders of the Moto2 standings, Manuel Gonzalez, who secured fifth position even though he fell.
