JAKARTA Aprilia kickboxing athlete Eka Putri Lumbantungkup and Enggar Bayu Saputra who won the gold medal in the 2025 Kickboxing World Cup are confirmed to participate in defending Indonesia at the 2025 SEA Games later this year.
The coach of the Indonesian kickboxing team, Adrie Yani Mandey, said that Indonesia is still targeting the best results this year even though the host Thailand has reduced many match numbers.
"We have a strategy too. We show that we are also capable. The two who just yesterday won the world too (to the SEA Games)," said Adrie at the kickboxing national training camp (pelatnas).
In this year's edition, kickboxing only won four games and only fought for eight gold medals. That number is far below when compared to Cambodia's 2023 edition, which won 17 medals.

The four numbers competed this year are K1, point fighting, low kick, and full contact.
Indonesia sent nine athletes (five female athletes and four male athletes) to compete in the four events.
Although many match number reductions were made by the host, Indonesia still set a high target, namely taking all the gold medals up for grabs.
Chef de Mission (CdM), Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, hopes that Indonesia, which fielded the best kickboxing athletes in the biennial event, can meet the targets it wants to achieve.
"We pray and support so that this kickboxing sport can become one of the gold barns for Indonesia. Please support the community so that they can perform optimally," he said.
From the Kick Boxing World Cup 2025 event, Aprilia Eka Putri Lumbantungkup won a gold medal in the women's K1 52 kg category, while Enggar Bayu Saputra climbed the highest podium in the men's 57 kg full contact category.
The two bronze medals were won by Abzul Aziz Chalim in the men's 57 kg kick light class and Sevi Nurul Aini in the women's 48 kg low kick category.
At the 2023 SEA Games, kickboxing managed to donate three gold, four silver, and five bronze medals.
The gold comes from the men's 63 kg kick light number through Abdul Aziz, 55 kg of women by Diandra Ariesta Pieter, and a full class contact by Toni Kristian Hutapea.
