JAKARTA The composition of riders for the 2026 MotoGP season is complete after Diogo Moreira, the challenger for this year's Moto2 title, officially joined the Idemitsu Honda LCR.

The Brazilian racer who currently sits in second place in the Moto2 2025 standings was officially announced as the Japanese factory rider on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

"Diogo Moreira has signed a multi-year contract with Honda Racing Corporation (HRC). He will join the Honda LCR MotoGP Team in 2026," wrote the MotoGP website.

Moreira made his Moto3 World Championship debut in 2022. In his debut season, he managed to score one win, three podiums, and claimed two pole positions from the 39 races he participated in.

He was then promoted to Moto2 in 2024 and named Rookie of the Year. Even though he has only been in that class for a year, he can immediately challenge the title in 2025.

Moreira is currently nine points adrift of leaders after winning Assen, Red Bull Ring, and Mandalika, and packing five podiums so far this season.

"I want to thank Honda and the team for this extraordinary trust and opportunity. I am excited to learn, develop, and fight for brilliant results," said Moreira.

Moreira is the last rider to complete the line-up for next season. He will partner with Johann Zarco, who is currently sitting in 10th place in the 2025 MotoGP standings.

Next season's race is expected to take place much more competitively. Big projects from teams like Honda and Yamaha may be able to prevent Ducati's dominance.
