PSSI Officially Appoints Indra Sjafri As Indonesian National Team Coach For The 2025 SEA Games

PSSI has officially appointed Indra Sjafri to lead the U-23 Indonesian national team which will compete in the 2025 Thailand SEA Games. The agenda will take place on 9-20 December 2025.

The news of the appointment of Indra Sjafri as coach of the U-23 Indonesian national team was announced by the Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of PSSI, Zainudin Amali, at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday, September 29, 2025.

"PSSI prepares as well as possible and coordinates with the Government. The current stage we already have names, still long lists. Regarding the technicalities, our preparations from PSSI are certainly different from single events."

"We are ready to be part of the Indonesian contingent that will compete in the 2025 SEA Games. Finally, it was decided that the one who will lead the Indonesian national team at the 2025 SEA Games is the head coach, Mr. Indra Sjafri," said Zainuddin Amali.

The appointment of Indra Sjafri to lead the team this time was not without reason. He made history at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia after successfully taking the U-22 Indonesian national team to a gold medal.

This achievement was achieved after a dramatic 5-2 victory over Thailand in the final through extra time.

This success is an important moment because it ended the title fasting for 32 years, since Indonesia last won gold at the 1991 SEA Games under coach Anatoli Polosin.
