JAKARTA Young gymnastics athlete Naufal Takdir Al Bari underwent intensive care for 12 days after an accident during training before taking his last breath.
The Indonesian Gamenastic Federation (FGI) in an official statement confirmed that Naufal died at the GA Zakharyin hospital, Penza, Russia, on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
"Naufal is one of the talented gymnasts and his departure has been a blow to the world of sports, especially the Indonesian Gamenastic Federation," the FGI wrote in their statement.

Naufal, who is 19 years old, is one of five Indonesian gymnastics athletes who are currently undergoing training camp at The Palace of Sport Training Center
The training camp is a financing support program from the National Sports Training Center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (PPON Kemenpora) since September 1, 2025.
The general chairman of FGI, Ita Yuliati, said that Naufal is a talented young athlete and a good person. So, Indonesia has lost one of its best talents.

"Currently we are communicating with the families and administrators of East Java Province, the Russian Gimnastic Federation, the Indonesian Embassy in Russia, and the Russian Embassy in Indonesia so that the return of the body of the late Naufal to the country can be carried out immediately," said Ita.
Naufal is prepared to appear at 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2025 in Indonesia, SEA Games 2025 Bangkok, and is projected to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
