Barcelona And Spanish Stars, Aitana Bonmati, Win The Third Anniversary Ballon D'Or

JAKARTA - Barcelona star and the Spanish National Team (Timnas), Aitana Bonmati, won their third Ballon d'Or in a row, joining Michel Platini (1983-1985) and Lionel Messi (2009-2012) as the third player in history to win three consecutive titles.

Bonmati have won everything at club level with Barcelona, leading the club to domestic trebles last season.

She is the three-time Women's Champions League winner and World Cup and UEFA Nations League champion with the Spanish national team.

However, La Roja failed to win the Euro 2025 title because he lost to England.

Bonmati won the 2025 Ballon d'Or, ahead of his teammate in the Spanish national team, Mariona Caldentey.

Caldentey joined Arsenal last summer and also presented the biggest trophy in team history, the Champions League.

Spanish legend Andres Iniesta handed the award to Bonmati on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, early morning WIB.

"This is my third year in a row here. I'm confused about what to say. It's amazing. Thank you to France Football for giving me the real award that could have been given to all of you (other finalists)."

"My team-mates here had a fantastic year. Receiving this award from Iniesta, who was with Xavi, was one of my idols since childhood, really special. My football career was partly thanks to them," said the 27-year-old player.

Bonmati said the ceremony was important in an effort to achieve gender equality.

"Thank you to the organizers who have stepped up this event every year. This is the first year we have received the same award as men and we really appreciate that."

"Equality is something we have long awaited. Today we have achieved it," he said.

Barcelona have won the last five Ballon d'Or awards for the women's category. Bonmati's teammate, Alexia Putellas, won the Ballon d'Or in 2021 and 2022.

"For Barcelona, for Joan Laporta, the President and Board of Directors, my teammates, staff, we didn't achieve this alone. This is thanks to the incredible teamwork. Thank you to Barcelona, the club in my life."

"I don't want to forget my fans. I never forget my origin. Thank you for being here, for the people at home, my parents, family, friends from Ribes, and for everyone who works hard so I can become a better player every day," he said.
