China Masters 2025: Jonathan Loses, Men's Singles Run Out

JAKARTA Indonesian men's singles at the 2025 China Masters were confirmed to be over after Jonatan Christie was eliminated in the second half.

Jonathan, who is united as fifth seed, lifted the suitcase after losing against Lin Chun-Yi from China Taipei with a final score of 5-21 and 20-22 on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

"From the last few meetings, Lin Chun-Yi's game today changed. He played very tactically, his attack was consistently deadly into corners," Jonatan said after the match.

This is Jonathan's first defeat against Lin. In the previous three clashes, Jonathan was recorded as always winning after a dramatic three-game match.

Jonathan said that lately Lin has played much more patiently with a slightly slow tempo. In fact, usually he always looks aggressive and fast.

"Meanwhile, I was not calm and in a hurry. He could enjoy the game more. This is something I have to evaluate again," he said.

Indonesia has sent a total of three men's singles to the Super 750 BWF level event. The other two who have returned are Alwi Farhan and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

Alwi and Anthony Ginting both ran aground in the first half. Alwi was eliminated after losing to Li Shifeng's host representatives, while Anthony Ginting Jonathan lost to Leong Jun Hao (Malaysia).
