Jabat Menpora As Well As Ketum PSSI, Erick Thohir Signs Still Wants To Multiple Positions

Erick Thohir has no problem with concurrent positions as Menpora and Chairman of PSSI (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - Erick Thohir officially serves as Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) after holding the handover of positions (Sertijab) Thursday, September 18, 2025. Erick Thohir is also still the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI.

Regarding the current situation, Erick Thohir also gave an answer about the potential for conflicts of interest that may arise from multiple positions. He reflected on a similar previous experience.

Erick Thohir had previously held concurrent positions. This moment occurred when he became President of NOC Indonesia for the 2015-2019 period. At that time he was also active in basketball, including being President of the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA).

The recapitulation of positions that have been held is considered successful and does not cause negative prejudice among other sports.

"I was at the NOC before, did I at that time lead a title between sports branches? 'Right?' It's not. Surely all Menpora, Mr. Wamenpora are also the same, surely prioritizing the target."

Erick Thohir was officially inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto to become Menpora on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the State Palace, Jakarta.

With this inauguration, Erick Thohir automatically left the position of Minister of SOEs. However, for the position of Chairman of PSSI, Erick admitted that he was still waiting for a decision from FIFA.

"Later on, there will be a process in FIFA. FIFA as the highest football sports body in the world will be the ones who decide. Everyone follows the rules from FIFA," said Erick Thohir.
