Beckham Putra: The Presence Of Thom Haye And Eliano Reijnders To Improve Persib's Quality In The Asian League 2

Beckham Putra is optimistic that Persib will talk a lot in the Asian Champions League 2 (doc. Persib).

JAKARTA - Optimism was expressed by Persib Bandung midfielder Beckham Putra ahead of his appearance in the Asian 2 Champions League (ACL 2). He said Maung Bandung would appear more fierce and qualified with the presence of Thom Haye and Eliano Reijnders.

This season is a new opportunity for Persib to perform optimally at ACL 2, after last season could only be caretakers in the group phase. Beckham, who is back involved, is now more optimistic.

Although the majority of the team composition is filled with new names, Beckham believes they can fight for tickets to qualify for the knockout phase with Thom Haye and Eliano Reijnders brought in at the end of the transfer market.

"This (the opportunity to appear again at ACL 2) should be an additional motivation for us because now I think the team is getting stronger because there are several new players (including Haye and Eliano). I think we will have an increase in the Asian scene this season," Beckham said as quoted from the official website of Persib, Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

In addition to the presence of a new player labeled the Indonesian national team, Beckham's confidence also emerged because he had had experience and evaluation from last season.

"This is my second chance playing at ACL 2. Of course, this must be proof because previously we had not been able to talk much on the Asian scene."

"Last season's ACL 2 should be used as a lesson so that we can be better and win in every game because the level is different from the Super League," he said.

Optimism was also expressed by the coach, Bojan Hodak, who felt that his team was currently in a condition ready to win.

"Good. When they win the game, the players are in a good mood. Slowly the players are getting more and more because those who are sick or injured are back," said the Croatian coach.

Persib will undergo their first match in the group phase of the Asian Champions League 2 on Thursday, September 18, 2025, WIB night, by hosting Lion City Sailors (Singapore) who last season served as runners-up for ACL 2.

In the group stage last season, Persib also met Lion City. Hodak's team members drew when they hosted the Singapore club at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium and won three points when they visited.

Apart from Lion City, this season Persib will compete for tickets to the round of 16 with Bangkok United and Selangor.
