Lamine Yamal Targets Many Ballon D'Or Trophys In Its Career

JAKARTA - Barcelona player Lamine Yamal said he wanted to win the Ballon d'Or many times, not just once. He will be blamed if he never won the prestigious award.

The 18-year-old forward is one of the favorites to win the award this year alongside Paris Saint-Germain's Ousmane, with the winner announced in a gala at the Theater du Chatelet in Paris on September 22, 2025.

"I told my friends that I didn't dream of winning a Ballon d'Or, I dream of winning much," he told the Resonancia de Corazon podcast.

Despite his young age, Yamal has made more than 100 appearances for Barcelona, scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists for the 2024/2026 season, helping Hansi Flick's team win La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

He started this season with a similar performance, scoring two goals and two assists in three La Liga 2025/2026 matches. He said he would feel guilty if the Ballon d'Or was not achieved.

"I think I'm a player who has the ability to win it. Otherwise, it's because I haven't done my best or because I don't want it."

"So, I dream of winning the Ballon d'Or many times. When the time comes (I won it), I will be very happy," said Yamal.

This year may be too fast for Yamal, with Dembele being a favorite right now after helping PSG win trebles. Meanwhile Vitinha, Raphinha, and Mohamed Salah were also nominated.

However, with the big targets waiting for him for the next 12 months, including the Champions League with Barcelona and the 2026 World Cup with Spain, his name doesn't seem to be gone of talks.

"I just want to keep winning. I want to win with my club and national team," said Yamal again.
