Alwi Farhan's Debut At The 2025 World Championship Runs Smoothly

Alwi Farhan rose from behind to advance to the second round of the 2025 World Championship (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Alwi Farhan made his debut at the 2025 BWF World Championships (BWF World Championships 2025) brilliantly.

The Indonesian men's singles beat Vietnam's representative Nguyen Hai Dang in two straight games with a score of 22-20 and 21-13 at Adidas Arena, Paris, France, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, WIB night.

Alwi had to get up in the first game. After chasing numbers, the 20-year-old badminton player fell behind in the 9-11 interval.

He then fell far behind Nguyen Hai Dang with a difference of 9-16. However, after getting the 10th point, Alwi slowly caught up.

He stopped Nguyen Hai Dang's points at 19 and won four points in a row to equalize.

Both then competed fiercely at the final points until they finally forced the pace. At this moment, Alwi managed to appear calm to get two consecutive points that closed the first set.

In the second set, Alwi, who learned from the first game, had found the best game. He really didn't give Vietnam the single opportunity to develop.

Throughout the second game, Alwi's points were completely unidentified by Nguyen Hai Dang.

The victory brought Alwi to the second round to face China Taipei's singles, Lin Chun-yi, who was the 12th seed in the tournament.

Shortly after Alwi Farhan's victory, Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi also managed to advance to the second round of the 2025 World Championships after beating Scottish women's doubles Julie Macpherson/Ciara Torrance in two straight games, 21-14 and 21-17.

Indonesia can still add tickets to the second round of the tournament through Putri Kusuma Wardani who has not played.

So far, only Anthony Sinisuka Ginting has been eliminated in the first round of the 2025 World Championships from 12 Indonesian representatives who have participated.
