JAKARTA - The US Open 2025 has undergone a change in format in the mixed doubles sector. Not only match day, but also technical changes.

Eight doubles get direct tickets based on their combined singles ranking, while eight other couples get wild-cards.

These wild-card players are single players who do not play single sector qualifying matches because the mixed doubles match day and the qualification takes place together.

Match schedules are also made short because match rules are also different from usual. The match will use the best-of-three set format with a short set of four games, without advanced scoring, tie-breaking at the same four, and a 10-point tie-breaking as a substitute for the third set.

This mixed double format change was inspired by the success of the Mixed Madness US Open 2024 which was held at Arthur Ashe Stadium during last year's Fan Meet.
