Indonesia's Bad Reports In The 2025 SEA V League: Failed To Go To The Asian Championships

JAKARTA Indonesia has never won once in two legs of the 2025 SEA League event which made them fail to meet the target and penetrate the 2026 AVC Nations Cup Asia Championships.

Megawati Hanggetri Pertiwi's journey and colleagues at the event involving Southeast Asian countries closed with a 0-3 defeat (17-25, 17-25, and 26-28) against the Philippines on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

"We started with enthusiasm, but the inconsistency in receiving and transitioning attacks made the opponent more dominant in important points," said the Indonesian national team manager, Luciana Taroreh.

It was the third defeat suffered by Indonesia in the second leg which took place in Vietnam. Previously, the Garuda Pertiwi squad was beaten by the hosts Vietnam and Thailand.

Luaciana admits that apart from being inconsistent in the game, Indonesia also has problems with some players still recovering from injuries so that rotation and stamina become its own challenges.

"Even so, I appreciate the hard work of the team who are still trying until the end. This defeat provides a clear picture of the area that we have to fix," he said.

Before the bad results experienced in Vietnam, Octavian's squad also suffered three crushing defeats while playing the first leg in Thailand.

A total of six defeats made Garuda Pertiwi have to settle for being the caretaker of the final standings. During the first leg, the Garuda Pertiwi squad successively felt defeat to Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Having failed to secure a single win made Megawati and colleagues close the tournament this year without points at all.

In addition, they also failed to meet their finishing target in the top two of the final standings so they could not secure a ticket to the AVC Nations Cup 2026.
