Malaysia Masters 2025: Apri/Febi Comeback To Qualify For The Semifinals

JAKARTA The women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Febi Setianingrum made an extraordinary comeback to reach the semifinals of the Malaysia Masters 2025.

They confirmed themselves as the first Indonesian representatives to reach this stage after beating eighth seed, Hsu Yin-Hui/Lin Jhih Yun, in three games 18-21, 21-16, and 21-9 on Friday, May 23, 2025.

"I am very grateful to be able to enter the Super 500 semifinals, but I am not satisfied because tomorrow there will be another match," Febi said in a statement.

Apri/Febi had a tight match when they lost their first set and when they won the second set. They then appear dominant and excel far from the opponent in the deciding set.

The pair from China Taipei is the second seed victim Apri / Febi. Another seed they previously managed to beat was Li Yi Jing / Luo Xu Min from China.

"Earlier the match was quite tense, less enjoying the first game. In the second and third games, we tried to increase our focus, enjoy more and more sure," said Febi.

In the semifinals tomorrow, the Apri/Febi test will be more difficult. The reason is, they will face the first seed from China, namely the Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning pair.

Before Apri/Febi, Indonesia had already missed the women's singles number. Putri Kusuma Wardani as the only representative in that number, was eliminated against Han Yue.

As for the women's doubles, Indonesia can still add tickets through Lanny Tria Mayasari/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.
