Patrick Kluivert Says The Indonesian National Team Still Has A Chance To Qualify For The 2026 World Cup

Patrick Kluivert is optimistic that the Indonesian national team can qualify for the 2026 World Cup through the Third Round of Qualification (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian national team, Patrick Kluivert, considers that the Garuda Squad still has a chance to qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup.

However, the key is that the Indonesian national team must be able to win the remaining three matches in Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round.

One of the matches that must be faced in sight is to host Bahrain at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 25, 202, at 20.45 WIB.

After fighting Bahrain, Indonesia then underwent the last two matches in June 2025 against China and Japan. If you refer to the current collection of points and the rest of the opponents you will face, chasing the fourth round by finishing in the top four becomes a realistic target for Indonesia.

Currently, the Indonesian national team is in fourth place in Group C standings with six points from seven matches, four points behind Australia who are in second place or lower limits to qualify directly.

Although the current position is difficult, Kluivert has not given up on chasing a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup. He feels that there are still opportunities by targeting victory in every match he faces.

"Everything is possible in football. Mindset the players and coaching staff are currently amazing."

"We have a good mindset. Luck is indeed an important thing, but we have to work together."

"If we try together with the right mindset, then we can get good results," he said.

Furthermore, former assistant Louis van Gaal in the Dutch National Team said his first week as coach of the Indonesian national team was very good even though it started with a crushing defeat against Australia in Sydney.

"In the first week it was actually very good even though the results against Australia were disappointing for everyone."

"However, we trained well. We have a feeling that we can achieve good results together," Kluiver said.
