Ole Romeny, Sandy Walsh, And Mees Hilgers Absent From Training Ahead Of The Bahrain Opponents

JAKARTA - Sandy Walsh, Ole Romeny, and Mees Hilgers missed the Indonesian national team training ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifying continued match against Bahrain.

Patrick Kluiver's Garuda squad underwent training at the Madya Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, evening WIB. The exercise was only attended by 26 players because of the absence of the three names above.

The manager of the Indonesian national team, Sumardji, said that the three names could not take part in this exercise due to medical considerations from the team of doctors.

"So, ladies and gentlemen. The first is related to players who undergo medical processes because there are several things that the team of doctors must re-observe," he told the media at the training site.

Mees according to the results of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) still needs treatment. Ole and Sandy's condition is fine and are currently undergoing separate training at the gym.

Sumardji said that most likely Ole and Sandy Walsh will be able to rejoin the team in the next training later and be fit against Bahrain.

"It is possible that in the near future it will be normal to rejoin friends [they are in training]," he said.

Indonesia is scheduled to face Bahrain in the eighth match of Group C in the third round of the Asian zone 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, March 25, at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta.

The Garuda squad carries a target of having to win in that match so that the chances of qualifying for the World Cup next year in Canada, the United States, and Mexico are maintained.

The Indonesian national team has just suffered a painful defeat with a landslide score of 1-5 against the host Australia in the seventh match of Group C on Thursday, March 20, 2025 yesterday.
